We thought that we would stop midway along the Small-Craft Route at Regatta Bay or close there to but the weather was such that we just kept going to Parry Sound. We followed a GLCC shortcut out into the Bay that basically said head south toward the Red Rock Lighthouse until the depth shoals rapidly to 30 feet then TURN. We turned and made it.
We enjoyed Parry Sound more than we expected. It was a great town for provisioning (which we did including propane), free concerts, hiking trails, etc. In addition, it must of been serendipity. Three of the boats that we met in Bad River last year were at the docks, Fridays Child, Crescendo, and Hart Tug. We had to spend a day reminiscing -- an impropmtu Happy Hour.
Craig even met up with an old friend. Craig had spent several summers in Parry Sound with his parents in a cottage on Huckleberry Island. Dave Thomas, the owner of the cottage, was still in Parry Sound 40 years later and came by the marina to visit with us.
