We´re really on our way, we sailed all the way to Thomas Bay -- our first stop in Georgian Bay. A trip of 18.9 miles. Hey, that´s far for us.
The entrance to Thomas Bay makes the entrance to Sturgeon Cove look like a cakewalk. There are all kinds of big rocks just under the surface just waiting to bite you. If you make it into the anchorage, it is worth the risk. Typically, in season, there are several boats in the anchorage but this early there was only one, Vision, a friend from last year. Anchor down, wine at the ready, we went over to renew our friendship and find out what was going on.
Thomas Bay is a well protected anchorage with lots of wildlife and places to explore. We inflated our kayaks for the first time and paddled around and we even saw a bear patrolling the shore. The only problem is getting Toucan in and out through the rocks.
