WHERE ARE WE? |
| |
July 31, 2008 -- Bustard Islands |
| |

Leaving Mill Lake we continued on through Collins Inlet, a narrow passage between granite cliffs, to Beaverstone Bay entrance (a narrow shallow passage. Then we had to find our way out of Beaverstone Bay into Georgian Bay. Not an easy proposition but we made it. After missing the rocks and islands, we found out that we didn't have this part of Georgian Bay on our chart plotter and our charts barely covered the close in parts of the Bay. Using an old chart from Craig's father we continued on to the Bustard Island group.

The Bustard Islands are about 3 miles out into Georgian Bay and full of rocks. Using our old fashioned navigation skills we wound our way in and anchored where shown with our stern tied to the rocks. As you can see from Google Earth, there is a lot to explore in the islands but it will have to wait until next year.
