2008 Anchorages

  WHERE ARE WE?
  July 1 - 3, 2008 -- Sturgeon Cove

It was a beautiful day for a sail, so we weighed anchor and sailed north up the Waubuno Channel. Then we had to make a choice, west against the wind or east, an easy downwind sail. We had never been in Sturgeon Cove and as we sailed by we turned in. The entrance is not the easiest in the world. The opening seems wide but it is strewn with boulders and reefs in a seemingly random pattern. Fearlessly we attempted the z-like course through the mouth and we made it.
It´s a lovely little cove full of animals and blueberries. Day saw her first bear, a mother and two cubs walking along the shore and some deer, not at the same time. We even picked a quart of blueberries.
