Thursday, June 7, 2007 -- Torresen Marine, Muskegon

This best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry. June 7th, we drove over to Muskegon, MI for the expected launch of Toucan on June 8th. Not quite. The bottom paint job wasn´t done so we attended to some projects. Craig was going to change some things on the mast (in his usual jury-rigged, bailing wire and duct tape way that would take all day), but fortunately he talked to John, Torresen´s rigger. John did the job right in less than half an hour. So Craig watched them launch and rig big sailboats. (We now know where the Santa Cruz 70s live.) We did load all of the gear we schlepped over in the Explorer onto Toucan while the final primer coat was drying on Friday and Day had a graceful exit off of Toucan when the ladder fell with her on it. Just a few bruises. The paint didn´t dry very fast and the final two coats wouldn´t be done in time for a timely launch on Saturday so we decided to drive home and take the ferry back on Monday.
