Craig & Day's 2007 Travels in IRV |
Saturday, February 24, 2007 We got a somewhat early start, as we needed an oil change. We stopped at every reasonable looking spot throughout Houston but no luck. Finally on the west side of Houston, we found a Camping World that was part of a Monaco dealership that could change the oil at 13:30 (it was 10:30). So we did some shopping at Wal-Mart, ate lunch, read some, continually checked to see when they were going to change the oil and shopped at Camping World. They finally had the oil changed and by 16:00. Never the less we had a good time and met several people (one couple use to have a Catalina 42 before they became full time RVers and another couple whose husband used to work on an oil platform and now works on oil rigs on dry land and another couple who ...., etc. Day even made reservations for us in Phoenix for February 28. We had better get moving. She had actually made the reservation using a discount card she did not have (getting the Lodging for half price per the folks we met on the ferry). To get the discount she joined Passport America who promised to send her confirmation via email within a couple of hours. We stopped for the night only an hour away in Welmar, Texas with the only criteria being that they had Internet access (to get the confirmation for the discount in Phoenix). It was a really nice campsite with a beautiful sunset but it would have been better if there hadn't been electric wires in the way. (Our confirmation email was not sent so Internet access was not necessary.
