Craig & Day's 2007 Travels in IRV |
Sunday, February 18, 2007 Enough with boat shows. Day needed to find a wireless hotspot to work on some rosacea web site stuff. We headed south. No hotspot in Homestead, Key Largo, or Marathon. Finally in Key West we found one -- but no place to park. We then found a parking garage near Mallory Square. First we had to find something to eat and then, after lunch, set off trying to find the hotspot again -- we had lost it trying to find parking. After Day led Craig aimlessly around Key West looking for the spot, he got a map (yes, he does look at them occasionally) and found the Internet Café about 3 blocks from where the car was parked (by taking a shortcut through Truman's southern White House grounds). Day worked and Craig got bored and walked down to Mallory Square Dock to watch the street acts and wait for the sunset. Day finally caught up and we watched the jugglers, musicians, etc. and eventually the sunset (not very good). On the way back to the car, we decided that we hadn't paid for a cup of coffee at the Internet Café. So being the honest folks we are, we walked back to the café, paid for the coffee and headed back to the car taking the shortcut through the Truman White House grounds. No problem getting in (after sunset) but the gate near the car was locked. No problem, we just headed back to the gate we came through -- locked! After panicking a little we finally found someone there to let us out. On the way back to Miami, we stopped at a great seafood restaurant --Annettes Lobster & Steakhouse (again after wandering aimlessly around Marathon Key). We almost didn't make it before the restaurant closed.
